Mustangs Win Final Dual over Newton 38-36

After two weather postponements, DCG got a 38-36 Dual Meet Victory over Newton Friday Night in the Meadows Gym.   The win gave the Mustangs a 9-6 overall dual record and 5-1 in LHC action, which is good for a tiel with Norwalk and Indianola for the league title.

THe Mustangs got off to a quick start with Tech Falls from Gavin Moran and Senior Bain Broderick along with falls from Senior Cole Smith, Luke FIstler and Garrett Morris.    At 182, junior Zach Needham dropped a 7-4 decision in a battle of ranked wrestlers.    Newton then reeled off five straight wins, four by pin to take a 30-28 lead.   Freshman Riley Kovaleski got a 14-0 win at 120 and then Newton was open at 132 giving the Mustangs the final advantage. 

DCG honroed Senior Wrestlers Cole Smith, Bain Broderick and Garrett Reels prior to the match along with  Cheerleaders Paige Benson, Dayna Clausen, Adrianna Reha and Anna Roshek, and Student Manager Dakota Miles. 

Next up for the Mustangs is District Wrestling next Saturday at Glenwood.
