Dallas Center-Grimes used a big first half en route to a 40-7 win over Ballard in Class 3A District 2 Football Friday night in Huxley. DCG got 435 yards of offense on the night and used another great defensive effort to take care of the Bombers.
Damon Clapper sprinted 76 yards on the 2nd play from scrimmage and then hit Garrett Belzer from 80 yards early in the 2nd quarter to get the Mustangs rolling. Tanner Epple had one touchdown catch and one TD run and Luke Fistler added a short TD Run. Austin James booted two field goals and had four extra points.
Trent Carpernter led the defense with 14 tackles and an interception while Tyler Cooney added six tackles and an INT.
The Mustangs are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in District play and stay on the road next week for District 2 Action at Perry. Game time is 7:30 pm at Dewey Field.
